How Much Does Termite Treatment Cost?

One of the most common questions we get asked is how much does a Termite Barrier cost but it’s not a straightforward answer.  A technician will carry out a site visit as every property is different and will discuss with you the options for termite management at your home.  Depending on which option you decide to use the cost can be anywhere from $1500 to upward of $5000, but considering the cost of repairing termite damage to your home it’s money well spent.

The two main termite management options are:

Chemical Treatment Zone

The chemical treatment zone is a cost effective form of termite barrier as it can protect your home from termites for up to 5 years and depending on the product used your property may be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty providing an annual termite inspection is carried out at cost of approx $230 and the terms of the warranty are adhered to. A chemical treatment zone requires a trench to be dug around the perimeter of a property 100mm below footing and or small holes to be drilled into any concrete slab in order to apply the chemical that will be spread back to a termite colony by any termite coming into contact with this chemical barrier so killing of the colony.  This form of termite chemical treatment zone is charged per linea meter so a technician will measure up the area to be treated before quoting on a price.

Termite Baiting System

The baiting system is where baits are placed around the perimeter of the home and are designed to prevent the termites from entering your home.  The termite baits contain a growth regulator which is transferred by the termites, which enter and feed on the bait, back to the nest.  A baiting system needs to be checked monthly which would be covered by an annual service fee.  The cost of a baiting system can range from $2000 – $3000 which would include the first years monthly maintenance.

If a termite management system is not a feasible option a termite spot treatment may be an option. A spot treatment treats the active termites only in the affected area using Termidor, a fipronil based termiticide foam.  The cost of a spot treatment can cost between $250 – $500 based on the area to be treated.
